As long as the Cincinnati Bengals keep winning, they'll keep having players in contention for weekly and monthly NFL awards.
Now, quarterback Andy Dalton is nominated for the Castrol Edge Clutch Performer of the Week. Dalton was able to overcome a slow start in Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and lead his team down the field for the go-ahead touchdown in the final minutes of the game.
Dalton connected with wide receiver A.J. Green for a nine-yard touchdown with 2:57 to go in the game to rally the Bengals past the Steelers in a 16-10 win. Dalton went 4-for-5 passing on that drive and finished the game 23-for-28 for 231 yards with that one score and two interceptions.
The play and drive helped keep the Bengals unbeaten and gives the team its first 7-0 start in franchise history. Green was nominated for this award for his Week 3 performance against the Baltimore Ravens. Dalton has already been nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Week award twice this season and won the AFC Offensive Player of the Month award for October.
Through seven games, Dalton has completed 153-of-231 passes (66.2 percent) for 1,992 yards (8.62 yards per attempt) with 15 touchdowns vs four interceptions while running for two additional scores on the ground. More impressive is that Dalton has guided the Bengals to three come-from-behind wins this season, including Sunday's win in Pittsburgh. The previous two came in Week 3 in Baltimore and Week 5 vs the Seattle Seahawks.
