Notes: Nelson sheds bust label for Pro Bowl; Brock O. named QB; Eifert still protocol; Special day
Nelson’s selection is a textbook case of Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis willing to take a chance on a talented player who hasn’t been able to realize it during various stops around the league. And of coaching-personnel team work. On cut down day to end the 2010 preseason, the Bengals got Nelson for a little more than a song from the Jaguars. Try an aria. Backup cornerback David Jones and a conditional low draft pick.

According to league sources, the Cincinnati Bengals have not ruled out Pro Bowl tight end Tyler Eifert for Monday night's game at Denver. Eifert, who missed last week due to a concussion, remains in the protocol but a team source indicated he may move out of that phase of the recovery process as soon as Thursday.

Kirk Cousins, Brock Osweiler, Ryan Fitzpatrick and other QBs that NFL teams are evaluating - NFL
By now, Christmas shopping is just about complete. But offseason wish lists still are being compiled, and will be for some time. At the top of most desperate NFL teams' wish lists are, of course, quarterbacks. Without one, consistent winning is virtually impossible.

Washington Redskins: Robert Griffin III has handled situation well

Beckham issued an apology the same day, per the Giants' official website

Cam Newton, Todd Gurley among future Pro Bowl fixtures
When Tom Brady was announced as one of the players included on the 2016 Pro Bowl roster, it marked the 11th time that the Patriots QB has been so honored. And he's not the only old Pro Bowl hand. DeMarcus Ware and Charles Woodson have made nine. Adrian Peterson and Darrelle Revis have made seven. Calvin Johnson has made six. But there are plenty of younger players represented, too, from rising stars like Cam Newton and Russell Wilson (three Pro Bowls each) to first-timers like Todd Gurley and DeAndre Hopkins. While the older players aren't, by any means, done for, there will eventually be a generational shift, when they’re replaced by the perennial Pro Bowlers of tomorrow.
