Free agent defensive tackle Nick Fairley will be in St. Louis on Thursday for a scheduled visit, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Fairley spent most of the day in Cincinnati on Wednesday and indications were that the visit went well. However, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released defensive end Michael Johnson, Cincinnati put the brakes on to assess whether or not they'll be able to re-sign their former third-round pick from the 2009 NFL draft.
In the meantime, reports surfaced on Wednesday that the New England Patriots, who also signed linebacker Jabaal Sheard, are interested in Fairley. Reports of St. Louis' interest also surfaced on Wednesday, leading to Thursday's visit. The Rams are a curious choice, largely because their defensive line sports a $42.976 million cap number -- which accounts for nearly 30 percent of their cap.
