This is a big year for the Bengals... at least for the crop of players whose time as Bengals may be up this year.
That's the theme that cornerback Leon Hall is pondering. Nearly 30 players will become free agents next year and the window for this crew could be closing after the 2015 season. If they want to win a championship, this will be the year that it must be done... because if the draft provided anything, it was a window on the team's advancing plans to move forward.
"I don’t like that word desperation. Every guy is different," Hall said via Bengals.com. "I think their approach is they are going to work hard, play well, next season maybe they are here maybe they are not. But they will be somewhere assuming they play well this season."
Hall becomes an unrestricted free agent next March, along with Adam Jones. Cincinnati had selected two first round cornerbacks since 2012, anticipating a turnover that could lead to Dre Kirkpatrick and Darqueze Dennard starting at cornerback by next season -- if not sooner.
"It could be there’s a lot of guys on our team in their last year and everybody knows not everybody is going to come back and we feel like we do have a championship team so you put those both together you almost feel like this year isn't make or break but is one of the bigger offseason and upcoming seasons we've had for a while," Hall said.
Hall allowed 55 completions in 2015 for 709 yards allowed, three touchdowns and an opposing quarterback rating of 104.9.
