Dre Kirkpatrick was on The Rich Eisen Show last week and spoke about a number of topics including how impressive Geno Atkins is, why he thinks Andy Dalton is better than everyone gives him credit for, how Jeremy Hill is a "freak" and how much smack he talks "all day".
When asked about how the Bengals are looking this year, Kirkpatrick said, "I feel like we're heading in the right direction. We got a lot of key guys back, especially getting Mike Johnson back and he already makes the defense look totally different. Geno is back to speed, I feel like he's got his groove back."
Kirkpatrick also talked about the 21 Kids Foundation, which his recent football camp benefited and how important giving back is to him.
In true national media fashion, Kirkpatrick was asked about the quarterback competition, or lack there of for the Bengals. "Right now I think it's Andy's," Kirkpatrick said regarding the chance that AJ McCarron could have a chance at playing quarterback for the Bengals during the regular season this year. "AJ he's always going to be on his coattail, just because I know the drive and the fight that the guy comes to work with everyday. He throws an interception to Reggie Nelson one day at practice and just looses his mind. So the hunger and the passion are there."
