New, comments

The Bengals could go from ranking fourth in total salary spent on tackles in 2015 to 30th in 2016 if Andre Smith and Andrew Whitworth aren't re-signed.

It comes as no surprise the Bengals' offensive tackle group is one of the team's highest-paid position groups in 2015.

That should be the case when the tackles are what anchor one of the best offensive lines in football. Led by stalwart left tackle Andrew Whitworth, Cincinnati should once again have one of the NFL's best lines in 2015. Whitworth's $6.2 million salary is a bargain considering he's been one of the best linemen in football.

Here's a cap breakdown for the Bengals' offensive tackles in 2015:

As of now, offensive tackle will be the second highest-paid position on the Bengals' roster in addition to being the fourth highest-paid of any NFL team in 2015. That's mainly due to both veteran starters being in the final year of their deals.

In addition to Whit's big cap hit, Andre Smith is set to make $6.3 million in 2015. He and Whit are making a combined $12.5 million this year. That alone would make Cincinnati's tackles the 15th highest-paid group in 2015.

After those two, Cedric Ogbuehi and Jake Fisher will combine for $2.4 million after the Bengals selected each in the first two rounds of the 2015 NFL Draft. Veteran Eric Winston will make almost $1 million this year if he makes the 53-man roster.

As of now, the Bengals rank just 30th in total salary spent on tackles in 2016. That's when Whitworth, Smith and Winston all become free agents.

*Jake Smith is listed at OT on Spotrac, despite being listed at C on the Bengals' official roster. Even without his $435K salary, the Bengals would still have the fourth highest-paid OT group in 2015.
