In addition to signing wide receiver Greg Little and Desmond Lawrence, the Bengals have made two other roster moves to close out Thursday, one of which being the team parting ways with Cobi Hamilton.
Hamilton was waived by the team after originally being a sixth-round draft pick out of Arkansas in the 2013 NFL Draft. He has never appeared in a regular-season game, but did spend time on the Bengals' practice squad in each of the previous two seasons.
Last year, Hamilton played in all four Bengals preseason games and caught eight passes for 127 yards, including a 50-yard TD in the preseason finale vs. the Colts. In 2013, Hamilton played in all four preseason games and caught six passes for 68 yards and one score.
The Bengals also announced that middle linebacker Rey Maualuga has been placed on the NFI list. This means he suffered an injury away from the team sometime this offseason. Maualuga will be able to practice with the team as soon as he is medically cleared.
This move was a bit unexpected, given there have been no reported injuries with him this offseason. Earlier this offseason, Maualuga signed a three-year contract worth $15 million. He will earn $7.5 million in 2015, so it would behoove him to get healthy and make it back on the field ASAP.
Maualuga has 482 career tackles since being drafted out of USC in the second round of the 2009 draft while playing in 85 games during six seasons. He also has five interceptions and 17 pass deflections in his Bengals career.
