Welcome to the pre-season, where we get to watch starters on the sidelines and hopefuls play sloppy football. In the first week for the Bengals, the New York Giants come to town to pretend to resemble actual football. But, in the world of Tecmo, it is always full go.
The Giants start the game by kicking to the Bengals. Andy Dalton starts the game cold and misses the mark on his first few attempts.
The running game however is strong and the Bengals find some early success running Jeremy Hill.
The passing game ultimately stalls the drive and the Bengals are forced to punt.
The Giants have no issues with their passing attack and Eli Manning picks up a huge chunk of yards in a completion to Rueben Randle.
Another pass completion to Victor Cruz results in a first down.
At the end of the first, there is still no score.
That changes in an instant as Manning finds tight end Larry Donnell for the touchdown.
The Bengals do manage to block the extra point try.
On the next drive, the Bengals focus on getting the ball to Mohamed Sanu and he moves the ball down field along the sideline.
Then Dalton finds Sanu for the touchdown!
Manning and Cruz hook up again quickly for the Giants to regain the lead.
The Bengals are driving to end the half, but a poorly thrown ball ends the hopes of another first half score.
At the half, the Giants lead 13 - 7.
The Bengals defense comes out of the locker room inspired and A.J. Hawk gets to Manning for a sack to end their drive.
The Giants are forced to punt the ball back to Cincinnati.
Again, inconsistency in the passing game causes the drive to stall.
The Bengals punt the ball back to the G-Men.
Fullback, Henry Hynoski breaks free and picks up a large amount of yds for the Giants on the next drive.
Domata Peko tries to stall the drive with a QB sack.
And Adam Jones plays the ball perfectly and gives the Bengals some life.
At the end of 3 the score is still 13 - 7 in favor of the Giants.
In going for the equalizing score, Dalton tosses a pick in the endzone to end the Bengals threat.
The Giants however keep their foot on the gas as Victor Cruz notches his second touchdown of the day.
The Bengals drop the first preseason game to the Giants with a final score of 20 - 7.
