Darqueze Dennard, Jake Fisher miss Bengals practice; AJ McCarron fully returns

It looks like Darqueze Dennard may not be able to play in the Bengals' next preseason game if he can't get at least one practice in before Monday.

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

The Bengals hit the field Wednesday for their second-to-last training camp session.

Darqueze Dennard

Among those not able to participate was second-year cornerback Darqueze Dennard. After injuring his groin last week, Dennard has been held out in the two practices following Friday's preseason opener vs. the Giants.

Dennard went into that game with a groin injury that he either re-aggravated and/or injured further by playing. The good news is Dennard was able to work on the rehab field Monday and Wednesday, so he might not be out for too long.

Jake Fisher

Also out Wednesday was rookie tackle Jake Fisher. He missed last week's preseason opener with what appears to be a shoulder injury. He was able to practice on a limited basis on Monday, so this may be a precautionary rest day.

AJ McCarron

Backup QB AJ McCarron was able to fully practice Wednesday after being limited in Monday's session. It looks as though the second-year QB will make his NFL debut against the Buccaneers on Monday Night Football.

Onterio McCalebb

Wide receiver Onterio McCalebb also continued to be held out while dealing with a knee injury. He's dangerously close to being among the first wave of cuts in two weeks if he can't get back on the field soon.

Brandon Ghee

The same goes for cornerback Brandon Ghee, who continues to be out with a hamstring injury. Both he and McCalebb missed most of last week in addition to Friday's preseason opener.

Trey Hopkins

Offensive guard Trey Hopkins also sat out Wednesday. He too missed last Friday's preseason opener with an undisclosed injury.
