Marvin Jones, Michael Johnson miss Bengals practice

It's never a good sign to see a guy like Marvin Jones miss consecutive days of practice.

For the second straight day, wide receiver Marvin Jones did not dress for Bengals practice.

Through the first three days of training camp, Jones did not miss a practice after missing all of 2014 with ankle and foot injuries. He's since declared himself "100% healed," and that appeared to be the case early on in camp.

But after missing Monday's session with what was believed to be a rest day, Jones was again held out on Tuesday. Some though the Bengals were being ultra-cautious with Jones, given his history of being a bit fragile. But now it appears Jones suffered a minor injury on Sunday to his hamstring.

Hopefully, this is nothing more than a minor injury and Jones will be back soon. Jones is in a contract year and he can't afford to miss time due to injury if he wants to get a lucrative contract in 2016.

Another key Bengals player sitting out with injury was defensive end Michael Johnson, who is in the early stages of his recovery from an MCL sprain that should keep him out a few more weeks.

Wallace Gilberry returned Tuesday after missing Monday with a tweaked hamstring. This is a good sign for Jones if we can expect a similar timeframe for his absence. Gilberry only missed one day after developing the injury on Sunday.

Wide receiver Onterrio McCalebb is still out as he nurses a knee injury that could cost him a week or so of camp.

Margus Hunt was seen in a jersey but no shoulder pads; he can't practice until he comes off the PUP list, but seeing him in a jersey is a positive sign and his activation off PUP could come any day.

Veteran tackles Andre Smith and Andrew Whitworth didn't practice as they got rest days off on Tuesday. Linebacker Marquis Flowers also missed Tuesday after leaving Monday's session with a knee injury.
