With training camp now a week old for most NFL teams, we take a look around the AFC North to see what storylines are developing.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Steelers to kick off preseason vs. Vikings Sunday night
The 2015 NFL preseason will begin on Aug. 9 with the annual Pro Hall of Fame Game. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings will begin the new NFL season as they square off in the first exhibition game of the year. Both teams will play five preseason games, compared to the four every other team gets.
Senquez Golson surgery decision to come in "a couple weeks"
The Steelers have a decision to make with their rookie cornerback Senquez Golson and his shoulder injury, but the decision might not final for a couple weeks. Though the team acquired Brandon Boykin last week, the team is still holding out hope Golson is able to play in 2015.
Jarvis Jones looks bigger, and hopefully better, heading into 2015
Pittsburgh's defense has taken a major step back in recent years due in part to the failed development of Jarvis Jones, the No. 17-overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft. After racking up 28 sacks during his final two years at Georgia, Jones has just three career sacks in 21 NFL games.
Cleveland Browns
Justin Gilbert looking like another Browns bust
You'd be hard-pressed to find a top cornerback who's had a worse start to his NFL career than that of Browns' corner Justin Gilbert. Gilbert had a disappointing rookie season, but supposedly he straightened things out when he worked in the offseason with Joe Haden in Miami. It's apparently not paying off as Gilbert continues to be relegated to the second-team defense, somewhere a top-10 pick shouldn't be in his second NFL season.
Hamstring could keep Terrelle Pryor out of scrimmage at Ohio State
Terrelle Pryor's hamstring injury likely means he won't play in the Browns' intrasquad scrimmage Friday night in Columbus at Ohio State. It would be the first time Pryor returns to the Horseshoe since being banned from the school because of his tattoo scandal.
Baltimore Ravens
The NFL's next notable pass rusher is Ravens DT Timmy Jernigan
While Elvis Dumervil and Terrell Suggs get most of the publicity in Baltimore, Timmy Jernigan is no slouch either as a pass-rusher. After a solid rookie season, Jernigan is now set tto take on a starting role along Baltimore's defensive line with Haloti Ngata now in Detroit.
Ravens deny tipping off Colts about Deflategate
The Ravens tipped remain adamant they did not off the Colts about deflated game balls used by the Patriots. These questions come after the release of emails by the NFLPA that included one from Colts equipment manager Sean Sullivan, who said Ravens special-teams coach Jerry Rosburg told Colts head coach Chuck Pagano about an issue with the special-teams footballs during the Patriots-Ravens playoff game the prior week.
5 Ravens trending down in training camp thus far
With training camp a week old, these Ravens are seeing their stock fall and potential player roles in Baltimore diminish.
