The Bengals' Friday night practice consisted of quite a bit of special teams work as well as unremarkable performances from Andy Dalton and AJ McCarron. Both will be looking to show improvement tomorrow during Family Day, especially since there will be quite a few national media members in attendance. Here's a roundup of the Tweets sent out during training camp today.
Injury reports and players being held out of practice:
Vontaze a Burfict and Marvin Jones not dressed for practice, but both are out here. #Bengals @FOX19

— Geoff Hobson (@GeoffHobsonCin) August 7, 2015
Looks like Sam Montgomery and Adam Jones are among those not practicing. Pacman may just have a vet day off #Bengals
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 7, 2015
Marvin Jones and Onterio McCalebb also aren't practicing. That's now four straight days out for Marvin. #Bengals

Keo now receiving one on one work with Guenther.
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
Working kickoff coverages/returns. Tate, Alford, Gio fielding kicks.
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
Darrin Simmons: "Get the goddamn ball, Mario" after Alford left a squib kick roll past him for Gio, bit took a long time.
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
Leon Hall running with a punt team otherwise mostly made up of rookies and backups. #Bengals
— Matt Edwards (@Matt_WLWT) August 7, 2015
#Bengals opened tonight's practice with a lot of special teams work. Working on post-safety punts, squib kicks and onside kicks
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 7, 2015
Working onside kicks. https://t.co/LPnrJzQT1O

Adam Jones not practicing either; in street clothes. Dre, Dennard and Hall with the first team.
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
After more than a half hour of special teams work, #Bengals finally transition to 11-on-11
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 7, 2015
Dennard got some 1st team reps on the outside w/ Jones watching today ... #Bengals
— Jim Owczarski (@JimOwczarski) August 7, 2015
Dalton has thrown like four passes and badly overthrown his receivers twice.
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
AJ McCarron threw behind Greg Little, expecting a hook. Little continued running. Miscommunication.
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
PJ Dawson on a blitz; throw away from him on a screen. https://t.co/v3MQnJBQOu
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
QBs not impressive early in 11-on-11. Andy Dalton 1-for-3. Forced awkward high throw to Rex Burkhead and was high on another to Ryan Hewitt
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 7, 2015
Dalton's pass hit Hewitt's hands but was way too high for short route. AJ McCarron's first throw wide of Greg Little.Likely miscommunication
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 7, 2015
Quick out. https://t.co/9AQyt68IBF
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
Bengals working two minute drills.
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
2-minute drill: Dalton 8-9 but first team O didn't score v 2nd team D. Lone inc. was a spike #Bengals
— Jim Owczarski (@JimOwczarski) August 7, 2015
Still doing two minute work, but not seeing Leon Hall. Brandon Ghee with Dre and Dennard.
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
...and Ghee just lit up Mario in the flats.
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
Mario Alford drops the ball after being lit by Ghee and then commits a false start.
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
It definitely does. He can be one of the straws that stir this offense's drink. https://t.co/50xDpEA4Qy
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 7, 2015
Looked like Andy Dalton's offense faced the third-team defense. Had four first downs (two to Tyler Eifert, one to A.J. Green, one to Sanu)
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 7, 2015
McCarron 2 for 5 in 2 minute drill with a sack. One of the completions likely would have been a sack as well. #Bengals
— Jay Morrison (@JayMorrisonCMG) August 7, 2015
Communication seems to be issue for A.J. McCarron and WRs vs. first-team D. Had good "protection." Put in quotes because they're in shorts
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 7, 2015
Protection was so good that AJ McCarron had a long time to attempt one pass. Shouted a young fan from sideline: "throw the ball already."
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 7, 2015
First team defense (without 2 of top 3 corners) easily shut down McCarron's second team offense.
— Brennen Warner (@BrennenWarner) August 7, 2015
Well, they still need a good No. 2 TE, but the folks here seem pleased with what they've got here now, buddy. https://t.co/6SlF7H6ZCo

Friday night training camp is a lot of special teams. The baseball equivalent of watching a team practice sac fly's.
— Jeremy Rauch (@FOX19Jeremy) August 7, 2015
The most special teams practice continues.
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
A.J. Green all day, beating Dennard. https://t.co/VFlED7soPk
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
Tough catch for anyone other than A.J Green. https://t.co/vcJj0PR3gb

TD to Moore. https://t.co/OfO5xxwkm3
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
Last 11-on-11 for the day. AJ McCarron opens in red zone with a well-placed pass over LB Marquis Flowers to TE Tyler Kroft. #Bengals
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 7, 2015
AJ McCarron got slippery in the pocket and hit Kroft for a nice TD in situational 11-on-11.#Bengals
— Jim Owczarski (@JimOwczarski) August 7, 2015
Safe bet out of bounds. https://t.co/5MtfHWoTsu

Clark Harris is playing catch with a boy in the stands.
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
Ugly series for Dalton from 22. Goes 0 for 4, misses badly on throws to Eifert and A.J. against second team D. #Bengals
— Jay Morrison (@JayMorrisonCMG) August 7, 2015
Andy Dalton's been too high and was just too low on an attempt to Giovani Bernard on a screen. Dalton looked good on two-min drill, though.
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 7, 2015
All day. https://t.co/9ACPQ78eZF

McCarron getting reps w/ 1st team o-line, backup pass catchers v 2nd team D. Some nice throws in those 11-on-11. #Bengals
— Jim Owczarski (@JimOwczarski) August 7, 2015
Clark Harris playing catch with a young fan in the bleachers. Dad takes the ball and talks about the glory ... https://t.co/5g2rPDbyG4

Playing catch with the stands. https://t.co/HgDoOxCmA1
— Josh Kirkendall (@Josh_Kirkendall) August 7, 2015
Altho QBs had rough moments, AJ McCarron finished better than he started. Three of his last eight throws completed in tight windows #Bengals
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 7, 2015
Sluggish night practice for offense. Dalton 13 of 23, McCarron 9 of 14 #Bengals

Hue on Marvin Jones: "He'll be out here soon." #Bengals @FOX19
— Jeremy Rauch (@FOX19Jeremy) August 7, 2015
Follow-up tweet did not send from field. Ugly 0-4 series by Dalton was aberration today. He was 13 of 19 rest of practice. #Bengals
— Jay Morrison (@JayMorrisonCMG) August 8, 2015
Eifert & Burkehead heavily involved in pass game tonight. Hue, Marvin and Rex all insist he's a RB, but lot of reps in slot. #Bengals
— Jay Morrison (@JayMorrisonCMG) August 8, 2015
Hue on Eifert: "Still growing and learning. He’s going to be a huge part of what we do." #Bengals
— Jay Morrison (@JayMorrisonCMG) August 8, 2015
Marvin Jones did not want to talk after practice.
— Joe Danneman (@FOX19Joe) August 8, 2015
Marvin Jones' hamstring is the issue. He's just going through some soreness. His body is still getting used to constant football #Bengals
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 8, 2015
Hue called McCarron's day "pretty good" and said part of him frequently leaving pocket is "we have to protect a little better." #Bengals
— Jay Morrison (@JayMorrisonCMG) August 8, 2015
Marvin Jones could be back sometime next week. #Bengals
— Coley Harvey (@ColeyHarvey) August 8, 2015
Hue Jackson: "I think he (Marvin Jones) will be back soon." @fox19
— Brad Hawley (@Fox19Brad) August 7, 2015
When McCarron played behind the first-team line in final set, he was 4 of 5 with some impressive throws in tight windows. #Bengals
— Jay Morrison (@JayMorrisonCMG) August 8, 2015
Hue called day "Not great, but decent." Asked if inconsistency is expected this early in camp, he said, "I expect it to be great." #Bengals
