The Bengals hit the practice field Thursday for their second official pre-Raiders practice session, and Reggie Nelson was able to return after leaving Wednesday's practice early.
Nelson was seen working on the exercise bike to open Thursday's session after suffering a groin injury Wednesday. But, he eventually put his helmet and jersey on for practice. The initial injury forced him to leave Wednesday's practice early, but it looks like it was nothing major. Whether he practices Friday or not will be a good indicator to whether it is anything worth worrying about, and should confirm if he suffered a setback today.
Also making a return on Thursday was left tackle Andrew Whitworth, though it was only in a helmet and shorts. He missed Wednesday with what was determined as a back injury.
Also back was defensive end Carlos Dunlap after not being at Wednesday's practice due to an illness. It doesn't look like whatever was plaguing him is anything to worry about for Sunday.
One notable player absent today was defensive lineman Marcus Hardison. The fourth-round rookie was limited in Wednesday's session with a knee injury, which he suffered in the middle of practice. Now that he's being held out one day later, Hardison looks like a good bet to be inactive Sunday, especially if Michael Johnson is able to play.
