Elite or Not - A Caveat and a Questioon

Let's talk about "elite" quarterbacks for a moment.

First the caveat: There are no truly elite quarterbacks. No one "is" elite. There are only quarterbacks who are currently playing at an elite level. Case in point, Joe Flacco and Eli Manning, both of whom have Super Bowl rings but are currently leading teams to embarrassing defeats. They were playing at the elite level, but now it's clear they are both falling short. Likewise Robert Griffin was truly explosive (elite) in his rookie year, as was Colin Kaepernick , but now both have serious issues.

Which brings us to the question. Is Andy Dalton (8 TDs, 1 Int and currently 3 and 0) playing at:

  • An elite level
  • Very well, almost elite, but not quite
  • Very well, but no where near elite, there a difference and Andy shows it.
Let the firestorm begin.
