Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Marquis Flowers has been given the waived/injured designation. If he clears waivers, he will revert to the Bengals Injured Reserve for the entirety of the season. Flowers injured his shoulder during Cincinnati's preseason finale against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night.
Flowers, selected in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL draft out of Arizona, played every game last season as a rookie, including a start against the Denver Broncos. The second-year linebacker generated five tackles last season and three more on special teams. When Rey Maualuga went down with a hamstring injury during Cincinnati's postseason loss to the Colts, Flowers compiled five tackles on defense.
Flowers Tweeted this shortly before news broke that he was placed on Injured Reserve.

If Flowers clears waivers, he will compete next year for the chance to return to the Bengals' roster.
