Tyler Eifert injures left foot in 2016 Pro Bowl

Team Irvin may have won the Pro Bowl, but could Tyler Eifert be the biggest loser?

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Team Irvin dominated Team Rice in Sunday night's Pro Bowl, pulling out a 49-27 win in a game that saw some impressive offensive plays, plenty of turnovers and only one injury.

That injury was to Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert who had been having a great week in Hawaii.

The injury occurred when Eifert was being targeted on a pass in the fourth quarter by Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston. Eifert nearly made the catch, but the ball popped out as he hit the turf.

Eifert appeared to be in pain following the play and he didn't return to the game once he limped off the field. Moments later, Eifert was seen with ice wrapped on his foot on the sidelines as trainers checked him out. Eifert will be getting X-Rays and any rumors right now regarding the extent of the injury, are just rumors.

Per Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson, the X-Rays are hopefully just precautionary.

The winning Pro Bowl team which featured Eifert, A.J. Green, Andrew Whitworth, Geno Atkins, Carlos Dunlap and Adam Jones will receive a bonus of $58,000. Players on the losing team, which featured Cedric Peerman, get $29,000.

Update: Eifert is leaving the Pro Bowl in a walking boot, certainly not the preferred footwear in Hawaii, nor on a long plane ride home. Hopefully, this is nothing serious.

Update 2: Good news!

Update 3: Per Hobson, who is in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl, Eifert said, "I don't really know what happened. I jammed my heel. I'll be good." Initial testing showed no broken bones after the Pro Bowl, but more testing will be done back in Cincinnati where Eifert will see Bengals foot specialist James Amis, according to Hobson.

Hobson also spoke to Peerman, who said, "I'm praying for Tyler."
