The Bengals travel to London this week, and will leave the friendly confines of Paul Brown Stadium on Thursday to head across the pond. They’ll be met by a large contingency of European Bengals fans, as well as many Americans making the trip to see their favorite football team take on Washington in the U.K.
BookMaker.eu has released its opening odds for Week 8 in the NFL and the Bengals have opened as two point favorites to beat Washington, with a point total set at 46.5.
The Redskins are 4-3 after beating the Giants, Browns, Ravens and Eagles and taking losses to the Steelers, Cowboys and most recently, the Lions. Kirk Cousins is having a decent season leading Washington after a shaky start to the year and now has 1,996 yards, 10 touchdown, 6 interceptions and a quarterback rating of 92.3. He ranks sixth in the NFL in passing yards. Comparatively, Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton ranks fourth in the NFL in passing yards and has 2,065 passing yards, 8 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a quarterback rating of 100.7.
Overall on offense, the Bengals are averaging 392.6 yards per game (5th best in the league) and 20 points per game (24th best). Meanwhile, the Redskins rank 6th in total offense with 391.4 yards allowed per game and average 22.7 points per game (16th best). Defensively, the Bengals and Redskins are also pretty similar in rank. The Bengals rank 15th in total defense, allowing an average of 354.6 yards per game. Washington is allowing 363.3 yards per game, good for 20th best in the league. In terms of points allowed, the Bengals and Redskins are tied for 14th with 23.1 points allowed per game.
The game may be missing some key players as Bengals left tackle Andrew Whitworth and Washington cornerback Josh Norman both entered the NFL’s concussion protocol on Sunday. Washington left tackle Trent Williams also was injured on Sunday during one of the last plays of the game. He's said to have a left knee sprain and had a significant limp in the locker room after the game. Those will be key injuries to monitor this week. Here are some of BookMaker.eu’s opening odds for Week 8 in the NFL.
Week 8 opening odds:
Redskins at Bengals (-2, 46.5)
Raiders at Buccaneers (PK, 49.5)
Eagles at Cowboys (-4.5, 43.5)
