Bengals’ Wikipedia page edited to include reason Mike Nugent remains on team

Oh, Wikipedia.

Over the years, plenty of jokes have been made regarding players on the Bengals’ roster who aren’t exactly fan favorites. Last year, there were rumors that Brandon Tate was married to Marvin Lewis’ daughter. I don’t even know if Lewis has a daughter, but obviously, that’s not true. With Tate now in Buffalo, there’s a new player getting rumors made up about him.

After an upsetting Bengals tie in London with the Redskins, there’s a joke being made about a player who’s coming under increasing fan scrutiny. Mike Nugent missed a field goal and extra point in the Bengals’ Week 8 tie and some fans are trying to figure out why he’s still on the team.

On Wikipedia, there seems to be an answer. This was on the Bengals’ Wikipedia page as of 9:30 p.m. ET on Sunday night:

Frustrated after tying the Washington Redskins on October 30, 2016, team owner Mike Brown confirmed the long suspected rumor that Mike Nugent is his son, conceived during a decades long affair with former Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott. Before boarding the flight back to Cincinnati, Brown addressed the media saying, "as long as the sun still rises in the morning, Mike Nugent will kick field goals for the Cincinnati Bengals."

Kudos to the person who edited the page with this obvious joke. We wonder how long it will remain up, but, we’re not going to change it. Are you?

We could certainly use a little humor after a strange game that ended in a tie.
