For Cincinnati, the following players are out:
- Linebacker Rey Maualuga
- Wide receiver Cody Core
- Tight end C.J. Uzomah
- Cornerback KeiVarae Russell
- Offensive lineman Christian Westerman
- Quarterback Jeff Driskel
- Defensive lineman DeShawn Williams
To no surprise, backup tight end C.J. Uzomah is inactive after suffering a calf injury at practice this week. He wasn’t on the injury report on Wednesday, but was then limited on Thursday before not practicing at all on Friday. The injury must have occurred during Thursday’s practice. It’s unclear how serious the issue is and when he’ll be able to return. As long as he is out, Tyler Kroft will be the No. 2 tight end behind starter Tyler Eifert. Uzomah received just one offensive snap last week and was inactive the week prior. With Eifert’s return, his role has clearly lessened.
The big surprise, however, is that Rey Maualuga is inactive today after not even being listed on the final injury report. He missed last week with a fibula injury, but returned for a limited practice this past Wednesday, then went full on Thursday and Friday. This likely means that Maualuga was a healthy scratch for this game. What’s more interesting is that his specialty is run stopping and the Bengals face the No. 1 rushing attack this week, led by LeSean McCoy.
Wallace Gilberry, who entered the game as questionable with a calf injury, is active, as is Margus Hunt, who was a healthy scratch last week in favor of Gilberry. Hunt effectively took Maualuga’s spot on the actives list today.
For the Bills, the following players are inactive:
- Defensive lineman Corbin Bryant
- Cornerback Marcus Roberson
- Linebacker Brandon Spikes
- Wide receiver Walt Powell
- Quarterback Cardale Jones
- Tight end Gerald Christian
- Offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio
None of these players are any surprise with most of the inactive players either coming into this game with a questionable designation, or being a regular inactive even when healthy.
