The Cincinnati Bengals have announced their inactives list for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens and it includes some big names.
For Cincinnati, the following players are out:
- Long-snapper Clark Harris
- Safety Shawn Williams
- Safety Derron Smith
- Wide receiver A.J. Green
- Tight end C.J. Uzomah
- Offensive lineman Christian Westerman
- Quarterback Jeff Driskel
Safety Shawn Williams and his backup Derron Smith are both inactive. Williams went down with a hamstring injury in Week 11 and Smith injured his thigh, seemingly in practice, after filling in for Williams last week and practicing without issue on Wednesday. He was then limited on Thursday, a non-participant on Friday and downgraded to out on Saturday. With Williams and Smith out, Josh Shaw will be playing significant snaps at safety for the first time. Rookie seventh round pick Clayton Fejedelem could also see his first defensive snaps of the year.
With two safeties injured, all six of the Bengals cornerbacks are active, including rookie KeiVarae Russell who will make his Bengals debut.
Long-snapper Clark Harris is out after suffering a groin injury last Sunday. He was limited in practice this week, but was doubtful to play in Week 12. Tyler Ott was elevated from the practice squad on Saturday to replace Harris as the primary long-snapper in Baltimore. Prior to today, Harris had played in 123 straight games.
Backup tight end C.J. Uzomah is inactive after suffering a calf injury at practice last week. It’s unclear how serious the issue is and when he’ll be able to return. As long as he is out, Tyler Kroft will be the No. 2 tight end behind starter Tyler Eifert.
With A.J. Green out and nursing a hamstring injury, rookie receiver Tyler Boyd will be making his first NFL start. Josh Shaw is officially starting for Shawn Williams.
For the Ravens, the following players are inactive:
- Cornerback Jimmy Smith
- Tight end Crockett Gillmore
- Guard Alex Lewis
- Running back Lorenzo Taliaferro
- Linebacker Za'Darius Smith
- Guard Ryan Jensen
- Linebacker Kamalei Correa
None of these players are any surprise with most of the inactive players either coming into this game with a doubtful/out designation, or being a regular inactive even when healthy. Starting guard Alex Lewis is out with an ankle injury. Starting corner Jimmy Smith is out with a shoulder injury.
The biggest question coming into this game was linebacker Elvis Dumervil, who is still working his way back from a foot injury suffered in early October. He is active after practicing fully all week and getting the questionable designation on Friday. That allowed Baltimore to make Za'Darius Smith a healthy scratch for this game.
