The Bengals continue to get hit on the injury front.
Defensive back Josh Shaw who is playing safety today in place of Shawn Williams and Derron Smith, injured his ankle in the third quarter. His return was ruled questionable, but he did get back on the field pretty quickly. That’s a relief because the Bengals cannot afford more injuries to their secondary. This also follows Chykie Brown leaving with a scary looking injury in the first half. He was carted off the field.
While Shaw was out, rookie safety Clayton Fejedelem entered the game and actually had a few very nice plays, nearly immediately, including a tackle for loss.
Additionally, tight end Tyler Kroft has a concussion and will not return. Without Kroft, the Bengals are left with only Tyler Eifert at tight end as C.J. Uzomah was inactive for Week 12 while dealing with a calf injury. The Bengals also have h-back Ryan Hewitt who they can use at tight end. The team could be in a sticky situation if Kroft and Uzomah are both unable to play next week against the Eagles.
The Bengals are certainly starting to struggle with injuries after being incredibly healthy for the first half of the season.
