The Bengals’ exciting venture to London ended in disappointment as Cincinnati returns to the U.S. with a 3-4-1 record. In something that should bring some relief to fans, the team doesn’t seem to be satisfied with the status quo, as they are working out a number of veterans, and even signed one in Wallace Gilberry.
On this week’s Orange and Black Insider, Scott Schultze, Connor Howe and myself addressed the possible moves the team is looking at as a shake-up to their disappointing start to 2016. In the 34th-minute-mark of this week’s show, we began to talk about Gilberry, as well as the workouts of many kickers and versatile fullback, Marcel Reece.
“I like it because it shows they are doing their due diligence, at least,” Schultze said about the Bengals working out four veteran kickers this week. “I’m under the impression (Mike) Nugent is a huge ‘practice guy’ and probably nails everything inside of Paul Brown Stadium, but when it comes to game day, you don’t 40 tries to get it right, you have to make that one kick.”
Aside from recapping the tie in London, around the 58:00 mark of the show, we took fan questions submitted to us by listeners. We had a few good ones, revolving around Vontaze Burfict’s play and even looked ahead to some of the team’s 2017 NFL Draft needs, based on what we’ve seen through eight games this year.
