After losing Vontaze Burfict to injury, the last thing the Bengals can afford right now is another injured linebacker.
But not long after Burfict went to the locker room for a concussion evaluation, Vincent Rey left the game as well. Rey injured his hamstring while covering a kickoff. He was down on the field after the play before being helped up and walking to the sideline on his own.
Rey has since been sent to the locker room for further evaluations. The team has announced his return is questionable. If he misses the rest of the game, that would be a huge hit on defense and special teams as Rey is a big factor on both.
If Rey and Burfict both miss the rest of the game, the Bengals will rely heavily on veterans Karlos Dansby and Rey Maualuga. Rookie Nick Vigil could see a bump in snaps, but the Bengals seem to favor a nickel defense with Maualuga and Dansby.
We’ll update this post as more details becoming available.
