Bengals guard Clint Boling underwent shoulder surgery

Two Bengals players have already gone through surgery this week to fix lingering injuries.

Bengals left guard Clint Boling has completed successful surgery on his shoulder, according to his wife, Kelly Boling.

This follows Boling originally injuring his shoulder in Week 4 against the Dolphins, but playing through the injury all season, up until the Bengals were eliminated from playoff contention. Boling missed Saturday’s game in Houston and was placed on Injured Reserve this week.

Boling reportedly separated his shoulders in the game against the Dolphins and has had a down year ever since. Playing through a significant shoulder injury of that variety would certainly make for a poor season from the Bengals’ starting guard. But, while Boling was suffering from the injury all season, he carried on and still played 14 of this season’s 16 games. He missed many practices and was limited in others to help keep him going through the injury.

The Bengals’ offensive line has had a down season in 2016, with the play at right tackle being the biggest issue. Boling playing through injury wasn’t even the second biggest issue with the Bengals’ offensive line this season, which goes to show just how good he is.

Boling is under contract with the Bengals through the 2019 season. Here’s to a speedy recovery for the guard and as his wife said in her Tweet, “here’s to having two arms to use next year!”
