The Bengals looked mighty impressive against the Eagles for three quarters, but the fourth quarter was one to forget.

In addition to an injury to Andrew Whitworth, which turned out to be nothing serious, Jake Fisher also left with what looked like a more serious injury. It came as Fisher was lined up as an eligible receiver and caught a pass for a first down, but fumbled on the play.

The Eagles recovered the ball, and after the play, Fisher was down in pain on the field. He was eventually helped off the field in clear pain before trainers examined him on the sideline. The Bengals later announced it as a left knee injury and that Fisher would not return.

That’s never a good sign, though there was only about five minutes left in the game when the announcement was made with Cincinnati up 29-17. It could have been precautionary, but seeing Fisher in pain as he was helped to the sideline, it was clear the injury was nothing to shake off.

The good news is Whitworth was able to return to the game late and give the Bengals their man at left tackle. Fisher is being groomed to take over the left side when Whitworth decides to retire.

We will have more details on the injury as they emerge.
