Mel Kiper NFL Mock Draft 2.0 has Bengals going wide receiver

As the offseason rolls on, many NFL experts creating mock drafts believe wide receiver will be the Bengals' biggest need in the NFL draft.

With free agency looming, it's possible that Cincinnati could lose both Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones. With as much as those two have done for the Bengals over the past three years, losing them both would leave a major hole at receiver next to A.J. Green going into next season.

That's why wide receiver is becoming the popular position picked for Cincinnati in many of the early mock drafts. Not only does ESPN's Mel Kiper have the Bengals grabbing a receiver in his latest mock, but he also has the player coming from Andy Dalton's alma mater.

TCU Horned Frogs All-American Josh Doctson is Kiper's latest pick for the Bengals:

24. Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals could be doing some rebuilding in the secondary, but depending on how things shake out in free agency, they also could be looking for a No. 2 wide receiver opposite A.J. Green. Doctson is a burner with great ball skills. He's a weapon because of his speed without the ball and also with the ball in his hands; he can take short throws and turn them into long gains.

Doctson was easily one of the of the three or four best receivers in college football this past season. Despite an injury costing him three games, Doctson still managed to catch 71 passes for 1,250 yards (19 avg.) with 14 touchdowns through the first eight games.

A wrist injury suffered in the ninth game led to Doctson just catching seven passes for 76 yards over his final two games before he was shut down for the rest of the season. That led to his stock dropping a bit to the point he's not even considered a first-round lock based on the early onslaught of mock drafts.

Of NFL.com's four draft gurus, only two have Doctson going in the first round. Ironically, those two have Doctson being drafted one pick before the Bengals are on the clock by Mike Zimmer and Minnesota.

Bleacher Report's Michael Whitlow wrote a great article on how Doctson may end up being the biggest steal of this year's draft. SB Nation's own Bolts from the Blue thinks Doctson could be this year's version of Allen Robinson.

Personally, Doctson was someone I viewed as a prospect who wouldn't make it to the Bengals, so if he does and ends up being the pick, I'd be happy with it.
