Pat Sims has been among the least discussed Bengals in free agency.
That's about to change as Bengals.com is reporting that the Bengals are trying to re-sign the defensive tackle and a deal could be coming soon:
The Bengals are trying to close a contract for backup nose tackle Pat Sims, a deal that has been simmering for weeks since agent John Thornton lives in the Indian Hill neighborhood of Bengals negotiators Katie and Troy Blackburn.
Thornton said he could do the deal at the mailbox and why not? The Bengals like Sims' mail-carrier reliability stopping the run.
Sims was originally a third-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. He spent two years with the Raiders before returning to the Bengals in 2015 in a rotation role. Sims was active for only 8 games last season, registering 16 combined tackles. Most weeks, Sims was rotating with Brandon Thompson to make the gameday roster.
Thompson, who reportedly visited the Seahawks today, tore his ACL in the final game of the 2015 season, putting his status for the start of the 2016 in jeopardy.
