It's free agency time and the rumors are leaking out through the media at a rapid pace. The AFC North teams might not get as splashy as some others around the league, but there is some news brewing within the division.
Baltimore Ravens:
Goodbye, Kelechi: Reports have surfaced that Ravens offensive lineman, Kelechi Osemele, has agreed to a mega-deal with the Oakland Raiders. It's reported the contract is five years and $60 million, making him one of the highest-paid offensive lineman. Osemele is primarily a left guard, but played tackle last year because of Baltimore's injury woes.
Interest in Pacman: As we've reported on our Bengals free agency rumors tracker, a few teams are showing interest in Cincinnati cornerback, Adam Jones. The Ravens are said to be one of the teams interested as well as another in the division (more on that below).
Shareece Wright Re-Signs: The Ravens did lock up one corner in free agency already in the veteran, Wright. He signed a three-year deal with the club on Monday.
A New Tight End For Joe Flacco: Injuries have hit the Ravens hard at the tight end position recently, so they made a push to sign someone to aid the group. Baltimore has reportedly agreed to terms with veteran Benjamin Watson, who was previously with the Saints. He also played for the Browns and Patriots during his 12-year career. The Ravens' tight end group was looking bleak with concern regarding Crockett Gillmore's status this season (he had two shoulder surgeries this offseason), Nick Boyle's 10-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drugs policy and Dennis Pitta's uncertainty with the team.
They Still Want More Defensive Backs: The Ravens' home site made a list of notable corners that could interest the club, even after the Wright signing. Jones and Leon Hall are on their list.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
Re-Signing A Valuable Corner: Pittsburgh has agreed to re-sign William Gay to a three-year deal on Tuesday. Gay is in his 10th season and returns to a group that might face losing Antwon Blake and Brandon Boykin.
Interested In Re-Signing Their Fullback: It sounds like the Steelers have expressed the desire to re-sign the versatile fullback, Will Johnson. He's entering his fifth year and has four touchdowns in as many previous seasons.
DHB Returns: Veteran receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey signed a three-year deal to stay with Pittsburgh on Monday. Heyward-Bey had just 21 catches, 314 yards and two touchdowns last year with Pittsburgh.
Cleveland Browns:
Manziel To Be Released Wednesday?: As has been the thought all along, Cleveland is expected to release the star-crossed quarterback on Wednesday. Manziel's struggles, particularly off the field, are well-documented.
A New Center In Cleveland?: Alex Mack's NFL future is unclear at the moment, but the Browns are rumored to be interested in Jaguars center, Stefan Wisniewski. Browns head coach Hue Jackson was with the Raiders when Oakland picked him in the second round of the 2011 draft.
Mack Still Open To Returning: Though the Browns aren't waiting around idly, Mack's agent said it's "certainly very possible" that he comes back to Cleveland. Mack opted-out of the final three years of his contract and is likely to test the free agent waters.
The AFC North Likes Pacman: Aside from the Ravens being interested in Jones, it's been reported the Browns are as well. Jackson is intimately familiar with Bengals players, having been a member of the coaching staff from 2012-2015 (and previously from 2004-2006).
Browns Pushing For "Mojo": As expected, Jackson and the Browns are reportedly pushing hard for Marvin Jones. The fifth-year wide receiver had a nice bounce-back campaign in 2015 after missing all of 2014 with injuries.
