The Bengals are in an interesting place heading into the 2016 draft. They are solid enough at virtually every position that they can afford to do things that they might not absolutely 'need' to do like take a defensive end early on.
The pairing of Carlos Dunlap and Michael Johnson has been one of the most effective defensive end tandems in the NFL. It's hard to imagine that there would be any room for a high-end player behind those two. However, both players will be free agents in 2018. If they continue playing at their current level, it could be difficult to keep both. Therefore, picking up a defensive end to develop in the meantime could be useful.
The Bengals have been linked to many of the top 10 defensive end prospects in the draft this year. We found highlight videos for many of the top players at the position, so you can get a good look and see who you like best for the Bengals.
No. 1 Joey Bosa
It's highly unlikely that the Bengals will be in a position to draft Bosa, but they did attend his Pro Day.
No. 2 DeForest Buckner
Buckner will likely be off the Draft board long before pick No. 24, too. Some call him the most complete defensive player in the 2016 Draft.
No. 3 Shaq Lawson
The Bengals attended Lawson's Pro Day in March. Check out his draft profile here.
No. 4 Kevin Dodd
No. 5 Noah Spence
Mel Kiper mocked Spence to the Bengals at pick No. 24 in his third mock of the offseason.
No. 6 Emmanuel Ogbah
Ogbah met with the Bengals earlier this month.
No. 7 Jonathan Bullard
The Bengals attended his Pro Day.
No. 8 Shilique Calhoun
The Bengals had their eye on Calhoun while they were at his Pro Day.
