Shortly after joining the Bengals as an undrafted free agent, former Toledo wide receiver Alonzo Russell will undergo a minor procedure and miss the rest of the Bengals' rookie minicamp this weekend.
As for another WR, Lewis said undrafted Alonzo Russell out of Toledo will have a minor procedure will miss rest of wknd. #Bengals

The details of Russell's impending procedure are unclear, but it's worth noting that Marvin Lewis mentioned it as a minor procedure. With positions on the Bengals' wide receiver depth chart open for the taking, this is unfortunate news for Russell.
On the bright side, it sounds like he should be back in time for OTA's, and he could have an opportunity to prove himself there. We've had Russell pegged as a guy to keep an eye on, as several NFL clubs showed strong interest in him prior to the 2016 Draft. He has the size to line up outside, and his college production suggests he could potentially work his way up the depth chart. With only A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd and Brandon LaFell pegged as wide receiver locks for the roster, Russell could potentially make the team if he's able to leave a positive impression on the Bengals' coaching staff this spring and summer.
