The Bengals hit the road for the first time of the 2016 season when they face the Lions in Week 2 of the preseason.
After a close loss in the opener vs the Vikings in Week 1, the Bengals are looking to build upon the positives seen throughout the game when they take on another NFC North foe. The second preseason game also features about a full quarter to a quarter and a half of work by the starters, so we should see a lot more of Andy Dalton, A.J. Green, Geno Atkins, Kevin Zeitler and George Iloka this week.
Last week's game featured a lot of promising drives by the Bengals offense, but an inability to finish drives and put points on the board. It took until the closing minutes of the first half for the Bengals’ offense to get points on the board.
That's when AJ McCarron hit rookie receiver Alex Erickson for a three-yard score. Erickson also reached the end zone in the fourth quarter with an electrifying 80-yard punt return to give the Bengals their only other offensive points of the evening.
Erickson’s Friday night performance is the kind that makes even the seemingly trivial preseason games exciting to watch. In just one game, Erickson went from an unknown barely on the roster bubble to now likely being on the final roster if it were made today.
Who will have the next Erickson-like performance on Thursday?
Here is everything you'll need to know to watch Thursday’s game.
