Cincinnati Bengals at Detroit Lions: Tecmo Bowl Futures

You can go anywhere on the web and find what the experts think the outcome of any game will be. I have my own expert. She was born in 1991 and has had my heart ever since. Her name, Tecmo Super Bowl.

Week 1 of the pre-season is when we see a lot of the position battles begin to shake out. Guys start getting more (a good thing) or less (bad) playing time as the coaching staff looks for anything to help them with their hard decisions.

In Tecmo world however, it is all go all the time, so don’t expect the backups to become starters here. Last week Tecmo incorrectly predicted a Bengals win. Let’s see how this week’s game plays out.

The Lions start with the ball and the Bengals Adam Jones grabs an interception on the second play of the game.

Then Cincinnati runs a sweep with Jeremy Hill and he finds a lot of running room as he breaks free for the game’s first touchdown.

The extra point is good.

The Bengals defense refuses to allow the Lions to gain any momentum. A tackle for loss is followed by...

a Carlos Dunlap sack.

Detroit is forced to punt.

Andy Dalton and the Bengals passing game seem like they are on two different pages. A couple of incompletions start the Bengals next drive.

Cincinnati is forced to punt.

Very quickly, the Lions have to punt the ball back to the Bengals.

At the end of the first quarter, the Bengals lead the Lions 7 - 0.

The passing game finds rhythm in the second quarter.

Dalton finds A.J. Green for the passing touchdown.

The Lions however are still struggling. Incomplete passes are the result of great coverage down field.

Detroit sends out their field goal team.

The kick veers to the right goal post for a miss.

Jeremy Hill is having one heck of a pre-season as he takes a pass from Dalton to the endzone.

The Lions start to find life. Golden Tate catches a pass and finds room to run.

A Karlos Dansby sack pushes the Lions back.

Detroit attempts another field goal.

This one clips the goalpost and bounces back onto the field for another miss.

Jeremy Hill fumbles the football and the Lions recover.

Detroit sends the kicking unit out for the third time to try and get points on the board.

This time, the kick sails through.

At the half the Bengals have a commanding 21-3 lead.

Cincinnati opens the third quarter with a long pass downfield.

Dalton connects for the touchdown to set the tone for the second half.

A familiar face in a different jersey gets his first catch of the game. Marvin Jones with a big gain.

Ultimately the drive fails and the Lions punt again.

Cincinnati misfires on a couple of downfield tries.

The Bengals punt back to the Lions.

The Cincinnati front is as advertised as Dunlap gets to the quarterback again.

Marvin Jones makes another long downfield catch for the Lions.

At the end of the third the Bengals have a comfortable 28 - 3 lead.

Cincinnati’s defense gets stingy with their backs to the endzone and Detroit tries another field goal.

This one is good.

Cincinnati answers right back as Jeremy Hill breaks a run down the sideline.

He hopes this score helps people forget about his earlier fumble.

The Lions move the ball well in the final moments of the fourth quarter.

Marvin Jones finishes the drive for a Detroit touchdown.

The Bengals add one more score on a Jeremy Hill run to easily win this game. WhoDey!
