Week 2 referee assignments

Ed Hochuli is the referee for the Thursday night game between the Jets and Bills. It is the first NFL game to be streamed on a social-media platform, as Twitter has the rights to carry the telecast on their service. Ironically, officials are prohibited from using Twitter for game-related communication during the season, so this will be a first for officiating as well. The game is also carried on CBS stations and NFL Network.

New Orleans Saints cut C.J. Spiller

The New Orleans Saints have cut ties with another expensive free-agent miss, releasing running back C.J. Spiller on Monday. Spiller, 29, signed a four-year, $16 million deal with the Saints last year. But they wound up paying him $9 million for a total of 13 games played.
