To say that national attention on the Week 2 clash between the Bengals and Steelers is at a high level would be an understatement.

On this week’s episode of The Orange and Black Insider, we had Chris Bradford on as our special guest. He is a Steelers beat writer for The Beaver County Times and fielded questions from the trio of myself, Connor Howe and Scott Schulze. Bradford also hosted me on his weekly Steelers Cast program, so we greatly appreciate his reciprocation and appearance on our show.

We explored many topics, ranging from his thoughts on the Steelers’ 38-16 win in Washington, to some of the bigger Bengals villains in the eyes of Pittsburgh fans. When we asked Bradford about a score prediction, he agreed that this Sunday should be a very close contest.

“Back during the Draft, there was a story that we just couldn’t seem to get away from, which was when the Bengals were on the board, no one was expecting defensive back,” Schulze said. “Cincinnati grabs William Jackson III and then the Steelers respond and take Artie Burns. So, as someone who is a lot closer to the team than we are, is there any truth to the rumor that they really wanted Jackson, or did they feel like they reached for Burns?,” Schulze asked.

“I think that they do like Artie Burns, but I do know that William Jackson III was going to be their pick had the Bengals not moved in there. Actually, during that entire draft, you could see the competition between the Steelers and the Bengals because I know a lot of people thought Cincinnati was going to take Andrew Billings in the first round and that was a guy Pittsburgh was also looking at,” Bradford said.
