Though the Cincinnati Bengals have had quite a bit of success under Marvin Lewis’ watch, they have yet to hit the championship levels that the Pittsburgh Steelers have made the NFL norm. For the first time in nine months, the two teams face off since the controversial Wild Card game to kick off the 2015 season playoff bracket.
Interest level is high in the 2016 Week 2 AFC North clash, both among the fan bases and around the NFL. The physical nature of the budding rivalry and the emotions both teams have shown over the past few years has made this one of the must-see games on the annual NFL calendar.
This week, I joined Chris Bradford and Chris Mueller on Steelers Cast, a show produced by the Steelers beat writers for The Beaver County Times. While some of the topics we discussed might be familiar to Bengals fans who have been keeping a watchful eye on the happenings surrounding the clubs, there were a number of interesting questions both Bradford and Mueller asked me on the show.
Aside from the impacts of A.J. Green and the dynamic duo of Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard, the hosts asked me about a University of Pittsburgh hometown hero, Tyler Boyd. Aside from the exciting rookie’s outlook, they also asked me who might be the most hated Steelers player amongst the Cincinnati fan base. While options were plenty, I attempted to narrow it down to someone who has recently made himself a Queen City enemy.
