The Bengals are surely excited to get linebacker Vontaze Burfict back from his three-game suspension tonight when they play the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football.

The Bengals have yet to activate Burfict to the 53-man roster, something they’ll need to do today, but Marvin Lewis took time out of his busy gameday to speak with SiriusXM NFL Radio this morning.

Lewis wouldn’t confirm how many snaps Burfict will play in his first game since January’s Wild Card loss to the Steelers, but said he's "raring to go."

"We'd have to lock him in a trunk if he didn't play, so yeah, Vontaze will play tonight," Lewis said. "He's ready to go."

This comes as no surprise. Just look back to November 2015 when Burfict returned from injury in Week 8 to play the Steelers after just getting in one practice and one walkthrough after coming off the Physically Unable to Perform list. In that game, he had five tackles including two back to back tackles on the first two Steelers offensive plays of the game.

As for Tyler Eifert, Lewis told SiriusXM NFL Radio, that the Bengals, “want to get him comfortable physically and mentally.” Eifert is doubtful to play tonight.

Lewis added that the Bengals have an opportunity to quickly bounce back from last week, which they’ll now do with the help of their defensive leader.

"He raises the level of everyone in the huddle and on the team," Lewis said.

We’re looking forward to see just how much he’s able to elevate the Bengals defense against the Dolphins tonight.
