NFL Season 2016 Week 1: Thursday Night Football

New, comments

A rematch of Super Bowl 50 contenders, the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers.

The regular season for NFL football has officially begun and in a big way.

The defending Super Bowl champions, the Denver Broncos take on the Carolina Panthers at 8:30 p.m. ET in Denver at Sports Authority Field.

According to Jeanna Thomas, of SBNation.com, this is “first Super Bowl rematch on kick-off weekend since 1970, when the Kansas City Chiefs faced the Minnesota Vikings to start the season. The Chiefs beat the Vikings, 23-7, in Super Bowl IV, but the Vikings won the Week 1 rematch 27-10.”

Each team has lost some key contributors, added some new faces since their last meeting, and kept some big time players. Can the Panthers follow suit, avenge their Super Bowl loss, and establish their dominance early this season, or will the Broncos defense continue to put pressure on Cam Newton and disrupt their way to another victory?
