Joey Porter is not a well-liked figure in Cincinnati, so you can imagine several Bengals were ‘intrigued’ by his Sunday night arrest in Pittsburgh.
Porter’s history with the Bengals is well-documented, and he’s caused a lot of the hatred in the Cincinnati - Pittsburgh rivalry. His antics reached a new level last year when he helped push Adam Jones into a brutal personal-foul penalty that led to a chip-shot field goal for the Steelers in the Wild Card round.
So you can imagine several Bengals enjoyed seeing Porter arrested Sunday night outside a Pittsburgh bar, hours after the team's 30-12 AFC Wild Card win over the Dolphins. He was later taken to the Allegheny County Jail and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
"Isn't he a coach lol," Vontaze Burfict said on Twitter, adding an emoji that he is crying from laughing so hard.
Burfict, as you may recall, drew a 15-yard personal foul penalty in that Wild Card game for his hit on Antonio Brown, which put the Steelers in position for a 50-yard field goal. Given the conditions of that game, that would have been a much different kick if not for the Porter - Jones incident that followed, which made it a 35-yard attempt.
So yeah, you can imagine Burfict finds it pretty funny seeing Porter now in the news for all the wrong reasons. And for all the bad publicity Burfict get, he’s never had an off-field issue like this.
