It’s been a tale of two teams for the Cincinnati Bengals.
The first one looked like a disaster that couldn’t reach the end zone amid an 0-2 start. Then came a much-needed change in replacing Ken Zampese with Bill Lazor as offensive coordinator. That’s led to a much different team over the last three weeks, one that is an overtime loss in Green Bay away from being 3-0.
All told, the Bengals will come out of the bye week with a 2-3 record and plenty of reason to think they’ll have a good showing the rest of the season.
Will that translate into a winning season? Could it even result in a playoff berth?
There’s plenty of reasons to think at least a winning season is possible with games versus the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears remaining.
All of those games look very winnable if the last three weeks are any indicator. Even the two matchups with the Pittsburgh Steelers and road games versus the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings don’t look too daunting.
Sure, the Bengals aren’t winning out, and they’ll almost certainly lose at least two games the rest of the way. But if they keep improving and building off their last three games, there’s no reason these Bengals can’t have a winning season the rest of the way.
