You’ll be shocked to hear Mike Mitchell did something dirty.
Mitchell’s latest infraction came in Week 6, where the Steelers safety took a horrific cheap shot on Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith. It came as Smith was alluding pressure and scrambling in the pocket before making a tough throw down the field. As he made the throw, Mitchell took a blatant hit at Smith’s legs:
That's about as dirty as it gets, Mike Mitchell. pic.twitter.com/piPXole7hS

That was dirty as hell by Mitchell. I hope Alex let's his lineman know and they can handle it.

Thankfully, Smith wasn’t injured on the play, and Mitchell was at least called for a personal foul as well. Given his long and noted history of illegal hits, this latest infraction could be enough to get him suspended, which happens to come on the heels of Bengals versus Steelers in Week 7.
There was also a play earlier in the same game in which Mitchell had a helmet-to-helmet hit on Charcandrick West, which led to the Chiefs running back leaving the game with a concussion.

Mike Mitchell has concussed West, dove at Smith's knees from behind and now forearm shivered a defenseless Kelce in the head. Kick him out.

Mike Mitchell deserves a suspension.

Mike Mitchell with an absolute cheap shot on Alex Smith. Dove at his knees 2 seconds after the play was over.

Mike Mitchell had a helmet-to-helmet on Charcandrick West that could be considered dirty earlier. Then Smith very angry w/ the late tackle.

One of the dirtiest players in the league https://t.co/qCdsO66nom

Mike Mitchell loves to hurt people, even if it's his own #Steelers.

Even Steelers fans are recognizing Mitchell’s dirty play.
Mike Mitchell is gross and I want him off my team. https://t.co/f9s0lmKVQw

The hard-hitting safety has had his fair share of run-ins with Cincinnati. On several occasions, Mitchell’s big hits have knocked Bengals players out of games. He often plays on the edge of legal/illegal hits on opponents, and he’s drawn plenty of fines in his career, but he’s never gotten remotely as much national scrutiny as someone like Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict gets.
Will the NFL finally make an example out of Mitchell like they have with Burfict on so many occasions?
