Colts at Bengals injury report: Good signs for John Ross; Ryan Hewitt limited

Ryan Hewitt was able to get on the practice field during Thursday’s session and John Ross was again a full participant.

We’ve now got a pretty good idea of which Cincinnati Bengals will be out for the Week 8 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.

That group will almost certainly include wide receiver Tyler Boyd, h-back Ryan Hewitt, wide receiver Cody Core and middle linebacker Kevin Minter. Boyd was held out of Thursday’s practice, making him zero for two this week and all but ensuring he’s out for Week 8. He injured his knee in Week 5. Despite getting the bye week to rest, he’s still unable to practice.

Core is battling a concussion suffered in the Week 7 loss in Pittsburgh. He is still in the NFL’s concussion protocol and likely won’t clear it in time to play in Week 8. That means rookie receivers John Ross and Josh Malone should be active this week.

Minter was out for a second-straight day on Thursday. His elbow injury suffered in Week 8 appears to be bad enough to sideline him for at least one game.

Hewitt was actually able to get a limited session in Thursday. He’s still working his way back from a knee injury sustained in Week 4. He probably needs to get in a couple of full practices in for the Bengals to play him.

Adam Jones was also a full participant on Thursday. He had been limited on Wednesday after failing to play last week due to a back injury suffered the week prior. That’s a good sign he’ll be back in action against the Colts.

As for the Colts, quarterback Andrew Luck remains out with a shoulder injury and almost certainly won’t play this week. Also missing Thursday was starting linebacker John Simon and starting cornerback Rashaan Melvin.
