Hearing the Cincinnati Bengals talk on Sunday, you would have thought they just played the Pittsburgh Steelers again. The Bengals may have lost to the Steelers in Week 7, but the two bitter rivals kept on chirping one week later.
During Cincinnati’s 24-23 win over the Indianapolis Colts, Pittsburgh running back Le’Veon Bell criticized Cincinnati running back Joe Mixon on Twitter.
After the Bengals beat the Colts, Mixon respectfully responded to Bell’s comments and tried to avoid going any further into this public splat. This came after Mixon had a career day, totaling 109 all-purpose yards, including a 67-yard catch and run on a screen.
Mixon preferred to let his play do the talking. The same cannot be said of Vontaze Burfict. The Bengals’ star linebacker had his own response to Bell.
According to Jim Owczarski, Burfict went as far as to say Mixon was a better player than Bell.
“Le’Veon is not as good as Le’Veon thinks he is,” Burfict said. “So for him to go rattin’ on Twitter to talk about my teammate, it’s a little bit beyond me. Joe is way better than him. I mean, I play Joe every day in practice and he just has better qualities.
“Joe is better than him. Put it like that.”
Monday Night Football in Week 13 can’t get here soon enough.
