While there were a number of high-profile performances from many of the Cincinnati Bengals’ stars this week, other Cincinnati players stepped up in more subtle ways. Unfortunately, the respective performances of each of these players weren’t enough to carry the team to what would have been a season-changing victory.
Cast your vote and sound off on your winner for the Bengals’ unsung hero of the week in their loss against the Tennessee Titans!
Running back Joe Mixon: Even though the offensive line is ineffective and Bill Lazor has inexplicable stretches of a lack of touches to his offensive stars, Mixon still creates the most of his opportunities. He had nine rushes for 37 yards and a touchdown, along with another reception for three yards.
Punter Kevin Huber: The left-footer has had a busy year, including seven punts to the Titans on Sunday afternoon. Three of the seven landed inside the Tennessee 20-yard line, while having a 47.7-yard average on his kicks in the afternoon.
Defensive End Chris Smith: One of the few solid offseason moves the Bengals made this spring was in a low-profile trade with the Jaguars for Smith. He had a sack of Marcus Mariota and a tackle-for-loss on the day.
Defensive tackle Geno Atkins: Though he only had two tackles on the afternoon, Atkins notched his sixth sack of the season. He remains one of the only consistent force on the Bengals’ front this year.
Edge rusher Carl Lawson: Add Lawson to that label of consistency up front. He had a sack, giving him 5.5 on the year, as well as a consecutive pressure in the second half of the game in limited snaps. Why isn’t he playing more frequently, again?
