The Cincinnati Bengals can’t seem to catch a break at linebacker.
With Kevin Minter already out of the lineup, Vincent Rey is now injured. It happened in the second quarter of Cincinnati’s Week 11 matchup with the Denver Broncos, when Rey was forced from the game with a hamstring injury.
The team announced his return as questionable as he was being examined in the medical tent. They quickly changed the designation to doubtful, meaning he is likely out for the remainder of the contest.
The Bengals actually made a small change to their starting lineup with Rey in this game, moving him to the starting middle linebacker spot. That allowed Vontaze Burfict to move back to his natural weakside linebacker spot. Burfict had been starting in the middle with Minter out, but the Pro Bowl linebacker had struggled in that role.
With Rey likely out, that means rookie Jordan Evans should see a lot more snaps.
Update: After halftime, Rey was downgraded to out for the remainder of the game.
