The Cincinnati Bengals got hit hard by the cramp bug late in their matchup with the Denver Broncos.
After Cincinnati took what appeared to be a commanding 10-point lead with 10 minutes to play, Denver marched right down the field on offense to score a touchdown with five minutes left.
But the drive was aided greatly by several players going down with what looked like cramps. Vontaze Burfict, Chris Smith and Shawn Williams all went down with what appeared to be cramps. While they were all able to walk off the field, it did prove costly as the defense surrendered a touchdown.
The most serious appeared to be with Williams, who actually went to the locker room earlier in the half to get an IV due to cramps. He was very hobbled as he went to the sideline to be examined further by trainers, though he was able to walk around.
Losing that many key defenders to cramps in one setting is unsettling, but playing in Denver has never been easy for the body.
It’s unclear if any of those players will be able to return if another defensive series is asked of them.
