The Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive line just got thinner.

During the first quarter of their Week 9 matchup with the Jaguars, starting defensive tackle Pat Sims was lost to a calf injury. After leaving the field, Sims’ return was announced as doubtful, meaning he is likely out for the rest of the game.

That’s a big loss on the interior, as Sims has been the Bengals’ most consistent run-stuffing tackle next to Geno Atkins. If Sims misses the rest of this game, rookie Ryan Glasgow figures to benefit, though second-year man Andrew Billings will also play more.

Glasgow has been playing more than Billings, but we should expect both to rotate for the rest of the game.

As for Sims, the 31-year-old is in the final year of his contract with the Bengals. He’s played well enough to earn a small one or two-year deal next offseason, so hopefully this injury doesn’t prevent him from getting a fair-market value next offseason.
