NFL Week 9 Bengals at Jaguars: Goat of the week

There were many poor performances by Bengals players in Jacksonville this past Sunday, leading to a 23-7 loss. Which individual performance was the worst of Week 9?

It’s never a fun job writing about how poorly certain individuals in a team sport performed in a given week. Unfortunately, in a loss as ugly as the one we witnessed on Sunday in Jacksonville, there were many fingers to point in the direction of Bengals players.

Vote for your Bengals Goat of the Week and sound off on your choice in the comments.

Quarterback Andy Dalton: There were a lot of factors that should excuse Dalton’s paltry stat line on Sunday, but even when protection held up, he misfired on a couple of big throws. Dalton finished 10-of-18 for 136 yards and zero touchdowns.

Wide receiver A.J. Green: Yes, it seems as if it was Jalen Ramsey who lit the powder keg which blew right before halftime, but seeing Green throw blows and subsequently get ejected was not a good look for the star receiver. Green finished with just one catch for six yards before being escorted to the locker room.

Offensive tackle Cedric Ogbuehi: Another week and more struggles from the former first round pick. Ogbuehi allowed one of the Jaguars’ two sacks on the day and has been doing no favors for Dalton. The clip below incriminates both Ogbuehi and fellow linemate, Andre Smith.

Offensive tackle Andre Smith: After a few weeks where Smith provided a steady presence on a struggling line, he’s been playing much worse in recent weeks. Sunday was no exception, as he allowed pressures and was part of a unit that only paved the way for 29 net rushing yards.

Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick: Marqise Lee had one of his best days as a pro on Sunday, with Kirkpatrick being the victim more often than not. Lee had eight grabs for 75 yards, a touchdown and was a big reason for the Jaguars converting 12-of-18 attempts on third down.

Shawn Williams: Before he suffered an unfortunate hamstring injury, Williams was struggling against the Jacksonville offense. He always seemed to be a step or two behind in pass coverage and dropped an easy interception, allowing the Jaguars to convert an early field goal.
