The Cincinnati Bengals may have Tyler Boyd back when they face the Tennessee Titans in Week 10.
Boyd, who’s missed the last month with a knee injury, was able to practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday. Even so, unless Boyd can get in two straight full sessions to end the week, it’s hard to see him playing Sunday after such a long layoff, especially with Josh Malone, John Ross and Cody Core all healthy.
After leaving Sunday with a back injury, Michael Johnson returned to action Wednesday as a limited participant. That bodes well for him playing in Week 10, though it would be nice to see him get a couple of full practices in. Because Johnson gets a lot of snaps at defensive tackle, it’s even more imperative he play in Week 10 with Pat Sims looking very iffy.
Speaking of, sitting out Wednesday were Jeremy Hill, Shawn Williams, Randy Bullock, Kevin Minter and Sims, Both Williams and Sims left the Week 9 loss in Jacksonville due to injuries. Thursday will be a telling day if they’re able to play in Week 10.
As for Bullock, he’s still dealing with a bad back that kept him sidelined in Week 9, which led to the signing of Marshall Koehn, who remains on the 53-man roster.
Minter is still out due to an elbow injury. I would not expect to see him this week after he’s missed the last three weeks and didn’t practice Wednesday. He probably needs a full week of practice before returning.
Hill is battling an ankle issue that made him a surprise inactive in Week 9. Him being out led to Joe Mixon getting his first start last Sunday, which should be a regular thing going forward, even when Hill is healthy.
As for the Titans, the biggest injury of note is with star tight end Delanie Walker, who is dealing with an ankle injury that kept him sidelined Wednesday. The Bengals struggle mightily against tight ends, so having Walker out of the lineup would be a big boost to this struggling defense.
