Adding insult to injury, the Cincinnati Bengals lost Carlos Dunlap late in their blowout loss to the Chicago Bears.

Late in the fourth quarter with the game already over, Dunlap sustained a chest injury that forced him out of the game. After leaving, the team announced his return as questionable, but he ended up not returning with the game decided.

Dunlap has been one of the few bright spots on what’s turned into a disastrous season for the Bengals, especially on defense. We already knew about the problems this team had on offense, but the defense has been just as bad at times as the season has wore on.

To be fair, injuries have depleted the Bengals this week, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to see them struggle so much against the Bears. If Dunlap misses time, Chris Smith and Jordan Willis will get a lot more snaps at defensive end.

We will keep you posted if any more details on Dunlap’s injury come out.
