Following the Bengals’ 34-7 loss to the Vikings, fans were largely silenced on social media.
There’s only so much Bengals fans can say when it comes to the team’s 5-9 record and the abysmal performance the team put on against the Vikings on Sunday.
What follows are social media reactions and thoughts following the Bengals’ loss in Minnesota, including information on Marvin Lewis’ future with the Bengals.
As you likely know now, there were reports on Sunday morning that Lewis will not remain the Bengals head coach in 2018. Immediately on Sunday afternoon in his post-game press conference, Lewis denied any such reports and said his future and the Bengals’ future is not up for discussion at this time.
Despite that, ESPN’s Adam Schefter seemed fully confident in reporting the news this morning. Additionally, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said Lewis TOLD HIM last night that he would be interested in a front office job in 2018. Rapoport added Lewis and the team both thought it was best for them to move on in separate directions next year.

Marvin Lewis will be 60 years old next September. It's a near certainty that no team will hire him as a HC in 2018, so only realistic chance to get another HC opportunity would be after a year or 2 hiatus. By that time, Lewis will be in his early 60s & may not even want to coach.

Another embarrassing loss for the Bengals, who fall 34-7 to the Vikings. They'll now post back to back losing seasons.

Marvin Lewis told Dave Lapham that his comment on the future is the same he has said since August: "We have no comment on the future."

"It's the same comment we've had since August. We have no comment about the future, We'll deal with the future when the future arrives.#Bengals
Lewis on today's reports: "I understand that's what drives media but people just throw things out supposedly throw things out on Monday night and everybody has to respond and everybody wants to be first and don't really care if they're accurate necessarily but they're first"
— Katherine Terrell (@Kat_Terrell) December 17, 2017
Of course, Marvin has to say this. I mean, he most certainly wouldn't say, "Gee, golly, you know, I am going to walk after the season, and I'm just collecting a pay check these last two weeks." https://t.co/uvYWTn7Bgm
